Hello!

My name is Whitney McKnight, founder and publisher of The Edge, Berea's source for real journalism.

I started The Edge because our town deserves reliable, comprehensive information about our community and those elected to lead it. Without The Edge, the actions of the powerful would go un- and under-reported.

The Edge brings you comprehensive coverage of City Council, Berea Independent School District, and land use in our region, as well as a deep dive into how our municipality works. With The Edge, you also get features, opinions, and glimpses of our social scene.

Since The Edge's founding in late 2024, I've published 6 exclusive reports, including one about squalor in an apartment complex that the City was unaware of until The Edge alerted them. I've had a sit-down with the mayor to tell you his vision for our town, I've told you about a new entertainment bus service in Berea, and broken the news that our local and federal officials are examining whether the Big Hill power line is necessary in its current proposed form.

I've introduced you to the people behind the fresh food movement keeping us happy and healthy. And, I examined the passage of an ordinance that a majority of Council passed without any public comment in order to punish a business in town they didn't approve of. These stories and more you will only find at The Edge.
